Michael Houghton has been working in Photography of all genre, for over 25 years with a studio in Columbus Ohio.
Michael's specialty 'developed' over the years as, Architectural and Interior Design Photography. However his professional and environmental portraiture and journalism are in use State wide and Nationally, he has shot catalog as well as retail interior for Microsoft and Bugle Boy and in the last couple of years the portfolio has grown to include hair and makeup fashion images for Paul Mitchell, Michael Farrell, and PHIA Salon and a number of independant Stylists and designers.. This work is providing the space for some ground breaking techniques for the studio that involves time based imaging as well as still. Michael's personal work of the American West is ongoing with a book in the offing.
Michael began shooting for the 'New York Times' as a stringer 8 years ago and now, also contributes work to the 'Ohio Farm Bureau' and 'Ohio Magazine' and has completed shooting assignments for 'House Trends Magazine'.
Michael began teaching for Columbus College of Art and Design in 1998 and has taken a new position with The Ohio Dominican Universty teaching a course in Basic Introduction to Photography both digital and film based, as well as, Digital Imaging basics and Studio/Still life imaging and is currently a member of the AIAP, Association of Independent Architectural Photographers.
Michael plans on continuing to shoot and image for the commercial world as well as what he sees as interesting, vital, simple and complex packaged in his own consciousness of the waking world.
